SDGs: Experts to find pathways to sustainable development at UAJK moot

MUZAFFARABAD (AJK): The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), in collaboration with the authorities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Helping Hand for Relief & Development, is going to organise a landmark countrywide convention on “Revitalizing the AJK SDG-2030 Roadmap: Pathways to Sustainable Development” here on Tuesday (February 4).

The moot, to be held on the King Abdullah Campus, will cognizance on growing an actionable framework for accomplishing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). it might be a collective attempt to bridge gaps among civil society, academia, authorities, and groups even as promoting innovation, studies, and collaboration. All of the initiative aims to address regional challenges effectively.

Talking about the moot, UAJK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, said, “As a leading AJK institution, the University is dedicated to contributing in the direction of sustainable improvement by way of promoting studies-driven answers and developing partnerships. This conference displays our determination to addressing pressing problems that impact the destiny of our region.”

Pathways to SDGs

He further said: “Our intention is to have interaction with diverse stakeholders and together discover pathways to achieve the SDGs”. The convention will provide a platform to share understanding, inspire innovation, and empower communities to take ownership in their developmental journey, he added.

The program will feature keynote speeches by distinguished experts besides interactive panel discussions, and capacity-building workshops. Participants will work on establishing SDG-specific working groups, setting baselines, and defining SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) to chalk out actionable outcomes.

Director ORIC at the UAJK, Dr. Abdul Rauf Janjua highlighted the importance of collaboration, saying, “The success of sustainable development initiatives depends on collective action”.

He said the conference will lay the inspiration for lasting partnerships and techniques that cope with the shared demanding situations. The University has invited policymakers, development practitioners researchers, and network leaders to take part within the crucial occasion and contribute to shaping a sustainable future for the location.
