MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): During the White House meeting between United States (US) President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, the members of Kashmiri and Sikh communities staged a protest in Washington while criticising India, PM Modi, and the meeting today.
The protest event put together by ‘Friends of Kashmir’ and ‘Sikhs for Justice’ succeeded in attracting numerous demonstrators who loudly protested against PM Modi’s visit due to their belief that it was unacceptable. People attending the demonstration showed their frustration about the Indian PM visiting the United States by shouting angry statements against his government’s activities.
The protesters denounced US hospitality towards PM Modi by using his ‘Butcher of Gujarat’ nickname and accused him of human rights abuses. The United States with its human-rights-oriented policies should not welcome leaders responsible for committing conflicts according to demonstrators.
The leaders present at the demonstration strived to establish Khalistan and demanded Kashmir’s immediate liberation from Indian control. The protesters blamed the Modi administration for both conducting genocidal actions against Kashmiris and promulgating religious discrimination and mistreatment of minorities throughout India. The demonstrators maintained that Kashmir was experiencing unjustified repression at the current time.
The Education Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Malik Zafar joined the protest to ask the international world to focus on Kashmir according to United Nations standards.
The protest consisted of influential Kashmiri figures whose names included Raja Mukhtar and Aamir Mehboob, Haiqa Khan, Ashraf Bashir, Muhammad Zubair and Zubaida Khan. The protest incorporated Sikh leadership through Dr Bakshi Singh, Amarjeet Singh, and Avtar Singh Pannu as well as a great number of Sikh demonstrators who criticised Modi’s policies.
The demonstrators claimed that under Modi’s leadership, not only are Kashmiris experiencing genocide, but minorities and members of other religions are also facing harsh prejudice. Demonstrators declared that Modi’s crimes in Kashmir are completely unacceptable.
Education Minister Malik Zafar of the Azad Kashmir administration joined in the demonstration in particular. Support for Kashmiri brethren was recently reiterated by Kashmir Solidarity Day. The world should pay attention to the violence and oppression in Kashmir by India, the Azad Kashmir Education Minister stated on the occasion, and the Kashmir issue should be settled as quickly as possible in compliance with UN resolutions.
