MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Commissioner Masood-ur-Rehman chaired a meeting with city officials to address worsening traffic issues in Muzaffarabad by impounding illegal vehicles, removing unauthorised transport stands, and enforcing stricter fines.

Commissioner Rehman led an essential gathering focused on traffic management for Muzaffarabad city. Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Mudassir Farooq joined the meeting alongside Additional Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad along with the secretary of Azad Kashmir Transport Authority and the Assistant Commissioner Muzaffarabad and District Traffic Inspector Muzaffarabad and Motor Vehicle Examiner Muzaffarabad.

The participants of the meeting studied the increasing traffic challenges in the city while establishing multiple regulations for traffic control system management. The implementation of public service vehicle impoundment became a crucial point in the meeting for vehicles without route permits and fitness certificates including Suzuki rickshaws. Public vehicles without route permits or fitness certificates will be impounded first followed by enforcement of traffic fines for lawbreakers and seizure of illegally parked automobiles.

During the meeting authorities decided to wipe out unauthorized stands positioned around Shah Sultan Bridge, Garhi Pan Chowk and Bank Road. Unauthorised taxi and bus stops throughout the city have been recognized as leading causes of traffic jams throughout the metropolis.

All public members present at the meeting decided to enforce strict rules against Bykea bike riders who either park their bikes illegally or lack proper motorcycle number plates. The authorities will take measures to enforce strict traffic rules with bike riders to sustain road order.

The gathering of authorities took place because of rising citizen concerns combined with traffic jams and unauthorized transport stand reports across the city. The worsening city traffic problems became a focus of attention after the publication of two articles by Kashmir Digital during the past week.

The authorities stressed that increased traffic law enforcement would lead to better road safety together with decreased traffic congestion. The new set of measures aims to create an organized transport system in Muzaffarabad while providing residents with better commuting conditions.
